How do players win a bingo game in Crowdpurr?

In Crowdpurr bingo, players earn points by both marking squares and earning bingos as the host calls the bingo squares. The more squares they mark and the more bingos they earn, the more points they receive. Players are then ranked on the Rankings Leaderboard based on how many points they earned.

As the host calls the squares off, players, by default, can earn an unlimited amount of bingos based on the enabled bingo patterns (or bingo lines).

Each bingo earned by a player is worth a decreasing amount of points, so players who earn bingos earlier will win more points.

When does a bingo game finish in Crowdpurr?

Be default, the bingo game is finished, once you've called all the squares and players have exhausted all chances to mark squares and earn bingos.

If you run the bingo game in Fully Automatic Mode, the bingo game will automatically end when all squares are called.

Can my bingo game end when the first player earns a bingo, similar to how bingo is in real life?

Yes, if you'd rather the bingo game end when the first player earns a bingo, you can enable the Auto-Finish Bingo Game settings to end the bingo game after the first, second, or any number of initial bingos are earned.

Once the amount of bingos set are earned, the bingo game will automatically end thus not allowing players to mark additional squares or earn additional bingos.

Does Crowdpurr bingo have multiple bingo patterns or lines? Can one pattern be played after another sequentially?

Yes, Crowdpurr offers eight different bingo patterns including Rows, Columns, Diagonals, X Pattern, Corners, Center, Perimeter, and Full Card (Blackout).

You can enable one or all of them. When enabled, those patterns are available to be earned as bingos when participants mark squares.

To do sequential bingo patterns where once one bingo pattern is earned (e.g. Rows), then a new pattern is available (e.g. Columns), you can update the bingo pattern settings in real-time. At this time, patterns do not automatically update. You need to manually update the pattern upon a player(s) earning a bingo.

Upon changing a bingo pattern, only newly marked squares will count toward earning updated bingo patterns.

Can I configure how many points per square or bingo are awarded? Can I disable the Points Per Square setting?

Yes, the Points Per Square, Points Per Bingo, Award Points Per Square?, and Decreasing Points Per Bingo settings can all be configured and customized on the Settings → Bingo Format tab.

If you don't wish to award points per square, you can turn this setting off.

How many overall squares can I add to a bingo game?

The Experience Dashboard for your bingo game allows the host to add up to 75 bingo squares in five different columns.

When a player joins a bingo game, they are given a 5x5 grid of a random set of 25 bingo squares from your overall set of 75 bingo squares.

Does Crowdpurr offer classic numerical bingo? Does it have newer formats like quiz bingo and music bingo?

Crowdpurr has three major bingo formats. They include:

  • Classic Bingo: To create a classic numerical bingo game, clone the Classic Bingo game from our Bingo Library. You'll then run the bingo game in the Classic Bingo format. This means each bingo square called will display the square's column and number/text so players simply locate that square on their bingo cards.

  • Quiz Mode Bingo: In this mode, each bingo square has a hint. Instead of displaying the text of the bingo square to participants, the bingo square's hint is displayed and players must use the hint to locate the bingo square on their card. This is a fun, quiz-style twist on classic bingo!

  • Music Bingo: In this mode, each bingo square is called without any text or hint. A "blank" bingo ball is displayed and players must listen to the music being played and locate and mark that square on their bingo card.

Everyone is doing music bingo. How do I do music bingo in Crowdpurr?

To do music bingo with Crowdpurr, you'll create your bingo game and add squares with various song titles and/or artists. Crowdpurr's Bingo Library currently doesn't offer any pre-made music bingo games yet, so you must create them yourself. You configure your bingo game to use the bingo format called Music Bingo mode. In this mode, each square is called as a "blank ball" so it doesn't give away what the song or artist is. You can optionally add a hint to each square and display the hint in the Quiz Mode Bingo format.

Then, to run your game's music, you'll create a music playlist of your bingo game's squares on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. The music source must be connected to an audio system, speakers, etc. in your venue or connected to your live stream if playing virtually. Overall, you must provide the source, playback, and control of the music from your bingo game. At this time, Crowdpurr does not support a direct integration with any music streaming service to natively play music (as most of them do not allow this).

Each time you call a square, you'll trigger that song to play in your music service. Players then hear the song and mark the square if their bingo card has it. Players earn points for marking squares and earning bingos.

Can I turn off the red square highlighting each time a square is called? This makes the bingo game too easy.

Yes, you can disable the Highlight Called Squares setting on the Settings → Bingo Format tab so that players are not clued into which square was called.

This is automatically disabled if using the Quiz Mode Bingo or Music Bingo formats, as this would reveal the correct square (though it can be reenabled if you prefer this settings).

How do my players join my bingo game? How many bingo cards do they get?

Participants join your bingo game on their own device which can be a mobile device or phone, tablet, laptop, or computer. They simply enter your bingo game's Crowd URL (e.g. crowd.live/12345) or scan the bingo game's QR code.

You can share your bingo game's Crowd URL or QR code via email, social media, or by displaying it on your bingo game's Presentation View. In a live venue, participants can view the Presentation View's Crowd URL or scan its QR code prior to you starting the bingo game. In a virtual meeting, you can share the Presentation View window to the meeting for participants to see. You may also print out the QR code or Crowd URL and share it, on printed cards or placards, in the venue.

Upon joining, players will see the bingo game's Participant View where they can input any enabled lead capture fields required to sign into your bingo game.

How many bingo cards does each player receive for a bingo game?

After signing into your bingo game on the Participant View, players will receive one bingo card for your bingo game. Players cannot play more than one bingo card per bingo game in Crowdpurr.

The bingo card is a randomized set of 25 squares in a 5 x 5 grid from your overall set of bingo squares from your bingo game's Experience Dashboard which can have up to 75 overall bingo squares added. The bingo card can have an optional free square.

How do multiple Bingo games or cards work? Does Crowdpurr Bingo support multiple rounds that are scored separately? Can I add a bonus round?

Each Bingo experience in Crowdpurr is a single bingo game. Each participant will received one card upon joining the experience. Participants, who join the game via Crowdpurr's Participant View, may only play one bingo card per bingo game.

To create multiple bingo rounds, cards, or games, you must create a new bingo game experience.

Multiple rounds of bingo can be scored separately and cumulatively using Crowdpurr's Multi-Game Rankings feature.

Does Crowdpurr offer other bingo grids besides 5x5, such as 3x3 or 7x7?

No, unfortunately at this time Crowdpurr only offers a 5x5 bingo card grid for participants. There are no other options for bingo card grid sizes.

How do I add bingo games to Crowdpurr? Do you have a bingo library or AI feature to generate bingo games? Can I write my own bingo games?

Crowdpurr offers a full Bingo Library of fun, pre-written bingo games created by our expert team and you have the ability to write your own bingo game.

Our Bingo Library is updated regularly with fresh, fun topical bingo games on all the topics, current events, and classic categories. We offer both classic numerical-bingo style bingo games and fun image and GIF-based bingo games too! Crowdpurr has a full-time in-house writing team that updates our Bingo Library weekly. Check out Creating Bingo Games with the Bingo Library to learn more.

Generating bingo games with Crowdpurr AI ✨ is coming soon, but not quite available yet.

Lastly, you're always free to write your own bingo games from scratch. You can use our editing tools or import bingo games via spreadsheet. You can also edit and update Bingo Library and Crowdpurr AI ✨ bingo games after you create them.

Can I import bingo games from a spreadsheet using Excel, Google Sheets, or a CSV file?

Importing bingo games from a CSV and exporting bingo games to a CSV is coming soon. But at the moment, bingo games do not support import/export via CSV.

Does Crowdpurr Bingo support multiple rounds that are scored separately? Can I add a bonus round?

Yes! Each one of your bingo games or rounds will be a separately created bingo game experience. You can then configure how you want the overall scoring to be calculated across your various bingo games. You can then use Crowdpurr's Next Round feature to move your players between your various bingo game rounds when one round ends and another should begin.

To learn more, please check out this article from the Help Center, Multi-Game Rankings & Rounds Explained (this article refers to trivia but also applies to bingo games).

Can I practice my bingo game ahead of my event? Using my friends or colleagues?

Yes! Crowdpurr is designed for you to practice as much as you want in order to learn the platform. We want you to feel comfortable ahead of your actual event. This is why we give you thirty days with every monthly upgrade.

There is no consequence for practice runs. You can practice as much as you want on any bingo game. You can play through and easily reset your bingo game when finished, so it's ready to go for another practice run or your actual event. Resetting simply removes all existing marked squares, earned bingos, scores, and rankings and puts your bingo game in the initial state so it's ready to go again. It also resets all player bingo cards. It does not remove your added bingo squares. There's no way to "mess up" your bingo game by practicing so feel free to experiment. If in doubt, reset!

To learn how to reset a bingo game, check out Resetting a Bingo Game.

Can I control how quickly bingo squares are called? Can I run my bingo game automatically?

You can manually control your bingo game or run it automatically! Bingo games offer two playback modes to choose from:

  • Host Controlled Mode: You must manually call each square. Call squares as slow or as fast as you want. Call any square at any time.

  • Fully Automatic Mode: Kick back and relax as your bingo game runs all on its own calling random squares automatically. You can set how quickly you want bingo squares to be called.

Bingo games do not support Crowd Controlled Mode (how trivia and polls do), as bingo games must be played in sync together with all participants.

Check out the following article to learn more: Bingo Game Settings - Playback and Timing.

How does the bingo game know/display my players' names on the Rankings Leaderboard? Where do they enter their name?

When you create a bingo game, at a bare minimum, each player is required to enter a nickname on their mobile device. This is used by Crowdpurr to display each player's name on the Rankings Leaderboard, which you can enable on the Presentation View and Participant Views at any time. Our Seminar Plan also offers a feature to Auto-Generate Player Names based on fun family-friendly word combinations (e.g. SkyDiver19, DaisyFlower4). This eliminates players from being able to enter their own nicknames and possibly enter profanity.

You may also enable additional lead capture fields such as last name, email, address, etc. But at a minimum, a nickname must be input by each player to join the bingo game.

How do I know who won my bingo game?

Because every player enters at least a nickname, you can enable the Rankings Leaderboard at any time during your bingo game (e.g. after half the squares have been called, at the end of the game, etc.) to display the real-time live rankings on both the Presentation View and the Participant View (e.g. player devices). You can also view the rankings privately at all times via the Crowd Rankings tab on the Experience Dashboard.

Be default, Crowdpurr will display a "top three" winner reveal animation on both the Presentation View and Participant View when you finish your bingo game. You can also determine the winner by who is in first place on the Rankings Leaderboard.

Does Crowdpurr support playing bingo with teams?

Yes, while team modes are more common with trivia games, they can also be used for bingo.

Under the green Settings tab on the Experience Dashboard, there is Team Modes sub-tab where you can enable your bingo game to use the following team modes:

  • Individual: Players play and are ranked individually (the default mode).

  • Basic Team Mode: A single player designated as the team captain joins the bingo game on one device, enters a team name, and plays the bingo game on behalf of the team. Teams are then ranked.

  • Advanced Team Mode: All players join the bingo game on the devices, then choose a team from a list of available teams (pre-created by the host) and play both individually and as a team. Players are then ranked individually and as a team. Team rankings are based on an intelligent average performance of each player on the team, regardless of team size.

Check out the following article to learn more: Bingo Game Settings - Team Modes.

How do bingo games handle ties between players? What if I have hundreds or thousands of players?

In Crowdpurr bingo, players earn points for each square they mark and for each bingo they earn. Additionally, as players earn bingos, each bingo is worth slightly less. Thus players are rewarded more for earning a bingo first. These settings make tie scores unlikely as players will have a varying amount of squares earned and a varying amount of bingos, each worth less points.

These scoring settings can be configured in the Bingo Game Settings - Bingo Format tab.

Are players able to cheat or play multiple bingo cards if they use more than one mobile device or Participant View?

Theoretically a player could play more than one bingo card if they use an additional device, web browser, etc. if you are not collecting any identifiable lead capture (e.g. an email or phone number).

To prevent this, you can enable and collect each participant's Email or Phone Number in the Lead Capture Settings. Then if a player tries to use an additional device, upon entering their email or phone number, their participant account will either be restored to the additional device (and signed out of the previous device) or they will be blocked from signing in (depending on the Allow Participants to Sign Back In setting). This makes sure the player is only ever using one device.

To prevent the player from using a additional fake emails or phone numbers, you can require they have a verifiable email or phone number upon winning the game in order to receive a prize.

Can I show the bingo rankings full-time without it automatically following along with the bingo game?

Yes, you can create a Presentation View window that only shows your bingo game's rankings full-time. Check out the help center article Displaying Only Rankings Leaderboard on Presentation View to learn more about advanced Presentation View configuration.
