Before creating your Poll, the Experience Wizard will walk you step-by-step through some initial settings. These are basic settings that you'll need to set before creating your Poll.
Can I change the settings for my poll after I've created it? Yes, all the settings in the Experience Wizard can be updated later after you've created your Poll, so don't overthink it. Most settings can be adjusted in the green Settings tab on the Experience Dashboard after you create the Poll.
Number of Questions Tab
The # of Questions tab on the Poll Setup Wizard
Set the Number of Questions
The first section of the first tab of the Experience Wizard will ask you to set the number of questions for your Poll. For your first Poll, set the number of questions to 1 question. We'll add more questions later on in the Experience Dashboard.
The free Basic Plan allows up to 15 questions per Experience. Upgrading to any of our Premium Plans allows adding up to 100 questions per Experience!
Set the Question Type
The next section of the first tab asks what question types you want to add to your Poll. You can choose from the following question types:
Multiple Choice
Text Answer
Numerical
Like or Dislike
Yes or No
Drag & Drop
By default, this Poll will automatically select Multiple-Choice si we selected to create a Multiple-Choice Poll. However, whatever type of Poll you choose to create in the future using the Poll shortcuts on the Create Experience page will automatically select the appropriate question type. You're free to add more question types if you choose.
For this tutorial, let's only check Multiple-Choice. You're now ready to go to the next tab. Click on the blue Next button.
To learn more about the various question types, please see - Working with Question Types.
Set Playback Mode Tab
The Playback Mode tab on the Poll Setup Wizard
The Experience Playback Mode determines how you want to run your Poll. There are three options to choose from:
Experience Playback Mode | Description |
Host Controlled Mode | In this mode, your Poll is entirely controlled by the host (you). The host is responsible for switching questions, triggering different Views for participants (e.g. showing live answers), and progressing the Poll from question to question. Your crowd is all participating in sync on the same question. This mode is designed for large groups of participants interacting together and having a host that needs to narrate or otherwise speak to the content being shown. |
Fully Automatic Mode | In this mode, your Poll runs automatically once it is started. It automatically progresses through each question based on the question time and optionally shows the live answer results after each question. Your crowd is all participating in sync on the same question. This mode can automatically restart your Poll for an infinite loop effect. This mode is designed for use cases where the host wants to start the Poll and have it run automatically and/or continuously loop all day or all through an event. If using the looping mode, your participants may join at different times and your Poll will loop around until they have answered every question. So you could run your Poll all day long and allow participants to join at any time. |
Crowd Controlled Mode | In this mode, your crowd can participate individually at entirely different times and not in sync. Your participants can complete all of your Poll questions at their own pace. This mode is designed for surveys, walk-up booth traffic, or any use case where individuals are participating at separate times versus together in sync as a group. |
For our tutorial, let's select Host Controlled Mode. This will give us complete control and allow us to demonstrate and learn about the different crowd Views. To learn more about Experience Playback Modes, please see - Experience Playback Modes Explained.
You're now ready to go to the next tab. Click on the blue Next button.
Name It & Go Tab
The Name It & Go tab on the Poll Setup Wizard
The final tab of the Experience Wizard lets you edit the name of your Poll. You can add different names to your Experiences to keep them organized. Let's type in My First Poll. You can leave the description blank and come back in the future to edit it from the Experience Dashboard.
You're now ready to finalize and create your first Poll. Click on the blinking pink Rock N' Roll button. After a few seconds, this will create your new Poll and automatically take you to the Experience Dashboard of your new Poll!
