Before creating your Trivia Game, the Experience Wizard will walk you step-by-step through some initial settings. These are basic settings that you'll need to set before creating your Trivia Game.

Can I change the settings for my game after I've created it? Yes, all the settings in the Experience Wizard can be updated later after you've created your game, so don't overthink it. Most settings can be adjusted in the green Settings tab on the Experience Dashboard after it's been created.

Trivia Games Tab

The Trivia Games tab features Crowdpurr's 100% original FREE Trivia Library you can use to quickly build trivia games for your audience without writing any questions yourself.

We update the Trivia Library weekly with new trivia games on popular fan-favorite categories like Movies, TV, Sports, and Pop Culture. We also offer broad-knowledge general-topic trivia games and more specific topics on current and fun trending topics (e.g. Game of Thrones, Tiger King Trivia). Feel free to browse the collection!

Questions Added

On the lower right-hand corner of the Trivia Games tab is the Questions Added widget. The Questions Added circle displays how many questions your new Trivia Game currently has added.

How many questions can I add? The free Basic Plan allows up to 15 questions per Experience. Upgrading to any of our Premium Plans allows you to include up to 100 questions per Experience!

Select A Trivia Game

Click on the Movies category on the left-side column of categories on the Trivia Library. The list of trivia games will load all of the available pre-written trivia games related to Movies.

Click the blue arrow (β†’) button to the right of any listed trivia game. After clicking on the arrow (β†’) button, you'll be directed to the selected game's main page where you can then review the trivia game's questions, as well as view additional information regarding the game.

The question list allows you to review and handpick the questions you want to add from the selected trivia game by clicking on the green (+) button. It also displays each question's Question Type and indicates whether the question has preloaded Question Media.

For instance, questions with a camera icon next to the Question Type label already have a form of Question Media attached. (i.e. YouTube video, GIF, stock image, etc.)

Alternatively, you can click on the green + Add Full Game button to add all of the game's questions to your Trivia Experience.

You can select as many trivia games and questions as you'd like or only select one trivia game for a single-category game. You'll only be limited by your Question Count, which you can increase beyond 15 questions upon upgrading to any Premium Plan. You can always create additional Trivia Game Experiences for each category (and link them together to make Trivia Rounds) or you can choose to mix categories in a single Trivia Game.

To learn more about how the Trivia Library works, check out Creating Trivia Games with the Trivia Library.

How many different trivia topics can I use? While you can have as many different trivia game topics in your game, please note that you can only select up to 10 trivia categories per visit to the Trivia Library. For instance, if you've selected 15 questions from 15 different trivia topics, only the first 10 questions will show from the first 10 topics. If you wish to add more topics, simply make another visit to the Trivia Library and select more questions to add to your game.

Want to change the categories? Or make an adjustment to the number of questions? You can simply delete the Experience you've created and start over by creating a new one. Your Experience Limit is simply how many Experiences you have created at the same time. So when you remove one, you free up a space to create a new one. So have fun and experiment! It's easy to create, delete, and try again.

You can also add, edit, and remove questions later after creating your trivia game.

Adding Your Custom Questions

Sometimes you may want to create trivia questions with your custom content. To do that, simply click on the Write Your Own category. This will add your questions as blank Multiple Choice questions in your newly created Trivia Game.

For the purpose of this tutorial, we'll select a trivia game from the Movies category. Later in this tutorial, we will add our custom question in the Experience Dashboard after our trivia game is created.

You're now ready to go on to the next tab. Click on the Next button.

The Experience Playback Mode determines how you want to run your Trivia Game during your event. There are three options to choose from.

Experience Playback Mode

Description

Host Controlled Mode

In this mode, your Trivia Game is entirely controlled manually by the host (you). The host is responsible for switching questions, triggering different Views to participants (e.g. live answers, correct answers, rankings), and progressing the Trivia Game along.

Your crowd is all participating in sync on the same question. This mode is designed for large groups of participants interacting together where a host is narrating throughout the game or speaking to the content being shown.

Fully Automatic Mode

In this mode, your Trivia Game runs automatically once it is started. It automatically progresses through each question based on the Question Timer and optionally shows the Live Answer Results, Correct Answer, Question Notes, or Rankings Leaderboard after each question. Your crowd is all participating in sync and on the same question. Additionally, you can also set this mode to automatically restart your Trivia Game and create an infinite loop.

This mode is designed for use cases where the host may want to start the Trivia Game and have it run automatically and/or continuously loop all day or all through an event. If using the looping mode, your participants may join at different times and your Trivia Game will loop around until they have answered every question. This allows you to run your Trivia Game all day long and allow participants to join at any time.

Crowd Controlled Mode

In this mode, your crowd can participate individually at entirely different times and not in sync. Your participants can complete all of your trivia questions at their own pace. This mode is designed for surveys, walk-up booth traffic, or any use case where individuals are participating at separate times versus together in sync as a group.

For our tutorial, let's select Host Controlled Mode. This playback mode allows us to be in complete control and also allows us to demonstrate and learn about the different crowd Views. To learn more about Experience Playback Modes, please see Experience Playback Modes Explained.

You're now ready to go to the next tab. Click on the Next button.

The final tab of the Experience Wizard simply lets you edit the name of your Trivia Game. You can add different names to your Trivia Games to keep them organized. Let's call it "My First Trivia Game." By default, the default Description text is "Answer correctly faster to earn more points!" but you can leave it blank.

You're now ready to finalize and create your first Trivia Game! Click on the pink blinking button that says Rock N' Roll. After a few seconds, this will create your new Trivia Game and automatically take you to the Experience Dashboard of your new game!
