Your Social Wall should now be in the LIVE state and aggregating posts tagged with #cats and photos from X and Instagram, along with accepting posts directly via the web app using Crowdpurr.

Posting to the Social Wall

Next, we'll send a test post to your Social Wall via the Participant View we opened earlier. Additionally, your Social Wall will also be picking up lots of #cats posts from X and Instagram.

Feel free to invite friends or coworkers to help you test on their mobile devices. Or you can test your Social Wall all by yourself. After the next step, we'll learn how to reset your Social Wall and clear out any practice posts, so feel free to have fun and experiment.

How Posts Appear on Your Social Wall

When new posts are published to your Social Wall, whether posted via the web using Crowdpurr or aggregated from X or Instagram, they will appear on the Experience Dashboard under the Social Wall Dashboard tab in the Published Posts section. Posts will also appear on the Presentation View simultaneously for your audience to see.

Can I approve what posts go live on my Social Wall? Yes! You can approve, reject, update, or even delete Social Wall posts. You have the ultimate authority over what is displayed to your crowd. To learn more, check out Reviewing and Approving Incoming Social Wall Posts.

Fairly quickly, your Experience Dashboard should start filling up with lots of #cats posts!

Adding a Post From The Web Using Crowdpurr

In the Participant View that we opened earlier, go ahead and type in the following text:

"This is the craziest cat of all!"

Now let's add an image. For this tutorial, an image of a cat is used. Feel free to take your own photo or download an image of a cat to use. Next, upload the image using the Participant View. Feel free to crop the image how you like. Finally, click on the blue Submit Post! button.

Because we posted via the web using Crowdpurr, our post will instantly appear on the Experience Dashboard and the Presentation View. If you click on the post's image on the Experience Dashboard, a pop-up shows us the post and image more clearly.

What is the image file size limit? Please note, the accepted image size on the Crowdpurr web app is currently 20 MB and under.

Adding a Post Using X and Instagram

Because your Social Wall is now LIVE, you will automatically see some posts coming in from both X and Instagram with the hashtag #cats. We intentionally used a very common hashtag so our Social Wall would pick up a lot of posts. Additionally, feel free to test X and Instagram.

Just log into either app, create a new Tweet or post, and use the #cats hashtag (or your #hashtag if you used a different one). Within a few minutes, your Tweet or Instagram post should publish to your Social Wall as long as there aren't thousands of other posts ahead of yours, which in the case of #cats there may be.

How often are social media posts queried & published? Crowdpurr will query for new tweets and Instagram posts about every five minutes. Up to 4 posts are published per query per social media channel. If you have a lot of available posts or Tweets on social media channels, don't worry, Crowdpurr will slowly aggregate them to your Social Wall. Crowdpurr only queries posts that are made within 48 hours at the time of querying. This prevents older previous posts from being published to your live event's Social Wall that use the same hashtag.

Once a post is published on your Social Wall, it stays in circulation forever. If you want to remove a post once it has been published, you must either delete the post or reset your Social Wall (more on this in a later step).

My hashtag is not returning any posts! If you use a custom hashtag for your event (e.g. #mysuperconference2022), Crowdpurr will not find any social media posts until you or the crowd at your conference starts posting on X or Instagram using that hashtag. However, if you create a few test posts on X or Instagram, they will populate your Social Wall within a few minutes.

Revisiting the Social Wall Presentation View

Now that we've added a post ourselves via the web using Crowdpurr's Participant View and we've also let several minutes pass, our Presentation View should now be filled up with plenty of posts on #cats. Let's check in on it by going back to our open Presentation View or simply opening up a new Presentation View if you previously closed the old one.

Why don't I see any posts on my Presentation View? If you haven't started your Social Wall, Crowdpurr will not query X or Instagram for Tweets and posts. If you did start your Social Wall, wait a few minutes and check that you have X and Instagram enabled with the #cats hashtag saved under the green Settings tab on the Experience Dashboard. If you still don't see any posts, please email [email protected].

The Presentation View will show appropriate messages based on whether your Social Wall is in the Ready To Start state, the Live state, or the Finished state.
