Normally, visiting the Presentation View by either clicking the purple Presentation View button on the Experience Dashboard or by entering the uniform resource locator (URL) directly requires you to be logged into Crowdpurr to secure your experience's data.
For users on the Conference Plan or higher, the Presentation View can be shared publicly allowing anyone to load, view, and follow along live with your experience without needing a Crowdpurr account.
The Presentation View can be shared simply by sharing its URL (i.e. hyperlink) or by embedding it into an HTML IFRAME or other third-party platform that then loads it using its URL.
Why Share the Presentation View Publicly?
Sharing the Presentation View publicly can be useful for many reasons including:
- Creating a public view of your experience (e.g. trivia game, poll, bingo game) that anyone, including stakeholders or clients, can view and use to follow along.
- Creating a public real-time leaderboard of your trivia or bingo game that anyone can view or that you can embed into a third-party platform.
- Creating a public social wall that anyone can easily load and view.
- Integrating Crowdpurr's Presentation View into various third party platforms such as event apps (e.g. CVENT, App Space), streaming applications (e.g. OBS, StreamYard, Vmix) or larger audio-video display systems that require the Presentation View to be embedded or launched dynamically via a direct URL (e.g. digital signage platforms).
Enable Allow Public Presentation View
To share the Presentation View publicly, you must enable Allow Public Presentation View from the Presentation View's configuration menu.
- From the Experience Dashboard of the experience you want to share, click on the purple Presentation View button to open the Presentation View.
- From the Presentation View, click on the gear icon in the lower-right corner to open the Presentation View's Configuration Menu
- Enable the Allow Public Presentation View setting.
Full-Time Rankings Leaderboard Mode
By default, any shared Presentation View that is loaded will follow along exactly with the Presentation View you load and control as the host of your experience. For trivia and bingo games, you may want the shared Presentation View to only display the Rankings Leaderboard full-time. You can enable this mode by setting the Display the rankings leaderboard full-time? dropdown on the confirmation modal.
By default, it's set to Match Presentation View which will follow along exactly with your own Presentation View that you control. If you want to only show a Rankings Leaderboard, you may select which leaderboard to display in the shared Presentation View.
If a Full-Time Leaderboard dropdown option is disabled, you need to enable the setting on your trivia or bingo game, then it will become available. To enable these settings, see Multi-Game Trivia Rankings & Trivia Rounds Explained and Team Trivia Explained.
Sharing the Public Presentation View
Once Allow Public Presentation View is enabled, it can now be shared and loaded by anyone with its URL (i.e. hyperlink). It can also be loaded by embedding its URL in an HTML IFRAME.
Sharing the Presentation View URL
To share the Presentation View directly by URL, simply copy its URL from the URL bar of the web browser after opening the Presentation View. Or you can recreate the URL by typing it out.
The format of the Presentation View URL is:
https://app.crowdpurr.com/viewer/<experience>
Then simply paste this URL into an email, chat, virtual meeting, etc. to share it. Then anyone who clicks on or opens the URL in their own web browser can load your public Presentation View.
Embed the Presentation View URL in an IFRAME
Additionally, you can embed the Presentation View in your own website or third-party platform using an HTML IFRAME. The IFRAME element allows you to embed websites within other websites. Crowdpurr is configured to allow Publicly Shared Presentation Views to be embedded in an IFRAME.
To learn more about HTML IFRAMES visit the W3 School's IFRAME documentation or search YouTube for IFRAME tutorials.
Disabling Allow Public Presentation View
When you no longer want to publicly share an experience's Presentation View, you can disable the setting to immediately revoke access.
- From the Experience Dashboard of the experience you want to share, click on the purple Presentation View button to open the Presentation View.
- From the Presentation View, click on the gear icon in the lower-right corner to open the Presentation View's Configuration Menu
- Disable the Allow Public Presentation View setting.
The Allow Public Presentation View setting will also automatically disable for all experiences whenever an account downgrades to below the Conference Plan.
