Before we start your Social Wall, we'll open up the Participant View to see how your crowd will post using Crowdpurr's web interface once we start the Social Wall shortly. You can open up Participant View on an actual mobile device (e.g. your mobile phone, your tablet, etc.) or you can open up the Participant View on a web browser tab on your desktop computer, laptop, or iMac. All devices are supported.
What is the Participant View? The Participant View simply refers to the interface your crowd will see on their mobile devices if they're posting to your Social Wall through the web and not using X or Instagram. You can view and experiment with this ahead of your actual event to ensure everything is working as you expect. If your crowd is using X or Instagram, they will post using those social media apps specifying your #hashtag or @username in the post.
To open the Participant View, do one of the following:
From the Experience Dashboard
This is the easiest way to create sample posts for your Social Wall while still working in the Experience Dashboard. First, click on the blue Participant View button in the Crowd Views area of your Experience Dashboard. This button will open a test Participant View browser window on your desktop or laptop computer. This browser window simulates how posting to your Social Wall will look for your crowd on smaller mobile devices. You can then have it open alongside your Experience Dashboard for testing.
During your actual event, your crowd will access your Social Wall using the mobile device instructions below.
An Experience Dashboard and a Participant View window
On Your Mobile Device
Open up your mobile browser (e.g. Safari, Chrome, etc.) on your mobile device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, etc.), and in the URL field, type in crowd.live. You will then be asked to Enter A Code. Simply enter the five-digit Social Wall Code for your Social Wall from the Experience Dashboard.
The Social Wall Code on the Experience Dashboard
In this example, our code is MTJP4 as shown on the Experience Dashboard. Your Experience Code will be different. Please refer to your Experience Dashboard.
What is a Social Wall Code? The Social Wall code (also known as Experience Code) is a random five-digit code that automatically gets generated for each new Experience you create. It's your Social Wall's unique ID that allows your audience to post on your Social Wall if they're not using X or Instagram.
If you're a Seminar Plan subscriber or higher, you can customize these codes to be any word or identifier you want. (e.g. EVENTWALL5, COMPANYSOCIALWALL, etc.)
Signing Into Your Social Wall from the Participant View
Once you have opened the Participant View, it will ask you to enter a Nickname. By default, a Nickname is needed as a minimum from each participant in order to post on the Social Wall. This is so that each post can be attributed to its author. For participants posting using X or Instagram, the author's username and avatar from each social media channel will be displayed below their posts and images.
For more information on how to collect lead capture from your participants, please have a look at this article Collect Lead Capture Data From Your Participants
Can I collect custom lead capture information? Yes, one of the features of our higher-level Seminar Plan and higher allows users to collect and export Custom Lead Capture Data from voters such as college name, employee ID, employer name, etc.
When the Participant View is opened, enter a nickname into the first field. Then click the Go! button. The Participant View will update to say Social Wall Will Begin Shortly. All instances of the Participant View will display a waiting message until you start your Social Wall.
The Social Wall should already be started! Normally, you'll have already started your Social Wall before participants learn about and join your Social Wall so they will likely never see the Social Wall Will Begin Shortly message. We're just mentioning it to demonstrate the various states of your Social Wall.
Ready To Follow Along and Post
You're now ready to follow along and post to your Social Wall using the Participant View. When you start your Social Wall, the Participant View you have open will update with a text box to input a message and an image uploader widget to add images, photos, or selfies.
