Predictive Trivia simply refers to setting the correct answer to a question after players have answered. With this format, you can set the correct answer after your participants have sent in their responses, and points will be awarded/adjusted accordingly. This opens up new kinds of trivia formats you can use during your live Trivia Games! Here are some examples:
Majority Rules Format
Players cast their vote on whatever answer they feel will win the majority. You can ask questions like "What's the most loved soda in the world?" The correct answer would be whatever answer choice received the most votes. After marking the highest-voted answer as correct, players who correctly guessed are awarded points.
Real-Time Live Sports Trivia
Run a live trivia game side-by-side along a real-time sporting event! You can set up questions ahead of time like "Which team will score the first touchdown?" or "How many strikeouts will happen in the second inning?" As the game progresses, you can mark the corresponding correct answers.
Players can play along and answer questions in real-time as you update them, alongside the live sporting event. Players who answer correctly are awarded points.
Virtual & Live Event Contests
Running a live or virtual contest or event? Try having your players bet on who will win a contest. Players are then awarded points for guessing the correct winner(s). You can add as many questions as you want to support multiple rounds or competitions.
Predictive Trivia is possible because trivia scores are always reactive to any updates the host makes on the Experience Dashboard. You can change the correct answer to a trivia question at any time and all player answers, scores, and rankings will update in real time including correctly calculating their score based on the time they originally answered.
Creating a Predictive Trivia Question
Using Predictive Trivia simply means adding trivia questions without a set correct answer, having your audience answer, and then setting the correct answer afterward. You can use this approach on any type of trivia game in Crowdpurr.
With the current version of the Drag & Drop question type, Predictive Trivia is not compatible with Drag & Drop questions as these questions rely on having the correct answer order already set.
Add New Questions
You can add questions to your trivia game just as you would any other type of trivia game. If you're asking a predictive trivia question, you will likely write your own custom questions using the Add Blank Question button or create a blank Write Your Own Trivia Game using our Trivia Database.
Set All Answers as Incorrect
By default, Crowdpurr will mark at least one answer option as correct on any newly added question. Simply click on the left yellow star icon to unmark any answer options as correct. Once all answers are marked as incorrect, none of the answer choices will display the yellow star icon. All the answer options will show a grayed-out star instead.
In this example, the predictive question is "What is the best soda of all-time?" Participants will vote for the soda they believe will receive the highest votes from all other players.
Players Submit Answers
After editing your questions, you're ready to start your trivia game. Simply wait for all players to submit their responses to your Predictive Trivia question. Once all of your participants have answered, you can then determine which answer received the highest votes on the Experience Dashboard on the blue Questions tab, which will display how many votes were cast for each answer option.
If you want your crowd to see the Live Answer Results as well, simply toggle Show Live Answer Results (A) to show your participants how many votes were sent in for each answer option.

Set Answer as Correct
After determining the highest-voted answer, simply mark it as correct to award players for their correct prediction. Click on the grayed-out star icon to the left of the answer option to dynamically update it as the correct answer in real time!

Yes! You can mark multiple answer options as correct if required. They will all be scored as correct. Please note, players are still required to submit a single answer to a question.
Display Correct Answer To Your Audience
Once you've updated the correct answer, you can then enable the Show Correct Answer (C) viewer control to display the newly set correct answer to your participants and watch their scores update in real time.

Additional Predictive Trivia Formats
If you're using a Live Sports format, you would simply mark whichever answer is actually true once the event passes in the sporting event. For example, if the question is "Which team will score the first touchdown?" you'll have players answer before the first touchdown is scored. Perhaps prior to kickoff. Then once a team scores the first touchdown, you can mark the appropriate team as correct.
Additionally, for Contest Betting, you'll have players bet on who will win before the event starts (or at least before it finishes), then once a winner is announced you update the appropriate answer as correct which then awards players with points who bet correctly.
Yes! That's exactly what Predictive Trivia does. It dynamically updates the scores in real time to the newly set correct answer. So if you accidentally run a trivia question with the wrong answer marked as correct, simply update the correct answer afterward and Crowdpurr automatically updates the scores based on how they should have been scored.
