You can spice up your Bingo Game by embedding YouTube videos to add music and videos to your Bingo Game. You can add music and video using the Add YouTube Video function to include:

  • Music videos for Music Bingo rounds

  • Famous scenes from movies and shows for Movie Bingo games

  • Sports highlights for Sports Bingo rounds

  • Funny clips to add humor

Adding a YouTube Video to Game Media

You can add a YouTube video during your Bingo Game, which will display on your participants' mobile devices on the Participant View. For instance, this feature allows you to create a music bingo round where you can stream a song that your players must find the corresponding called square with the artist, title, lyrics, etc.

Copying the YouTube Link

First, you'll need the link to the YouTube Video you want to add, so head over to YouTube or YouTube Music and find your desired video.

Once you've chosen a video, click the Share button located to the right of the video title. The Share dialogue box with circle social media icons will pop up, but you'll only need the actual URL link of the YouTube video, so locate the URL text box and hit the blue Copy button. The link will now automatically be copied to your clipboard, so you can now head back to the Experience Dashboard.

Once you click on Add YouTube Video, a blue pop-up box with instructions for adding a YouTube video by copying and pasting its link will show up. After pasting the YouTube video's link, press the green Search button.

After hitting Search to add the YouTube video, you will now see a thumbnail of your chosen video as well as two buttons for the Start Time and End Time at the bottom.

If you don't need a specific part of the video to play and would like the full duration of the video to play, simply ensure that both the Start Time and End Time boxes are left unchecked. These boxes are optional and are unchecked by default so the YouTube video will play from the beginning and will continue playing through the duration of your question.

Finally, press Add Video to finalize adding the YouTube video to your Bingo Game.

Specifying the Start and End

Sometimes you may only want to display a specific portion of your YouTube video. This could be a particular verse in a song or an isolated video clip from a movie scene. You can specify which part of the video to show to participants by editing the Start Time and End Time on the initial pop-up box or by clicking the green Edit pencil icon to the right of the added video.

First, find the two timestamps where you'd like the video to Start and End. In this example, we will be using the time stamp of 1:00 to 1:30 for the video. Once you've filled out the two Start Time and End Time boxes, make sure to check these boxes. These checkmarks indicate the YouTube video is set to play from the timestamps you specified.

Will players see the YouTube video's title? If you have the Obscure Title enabled, then Crowdpurr will temporarily block the YouTube title using a black bar to prevent your players from retrieving any answers by merely looking at the title. Once the title hides on the video, the black bar fades away.

Additionally, there is a YouTube logo on the bottom-right corner of the video; however, the logo is not a clickable link so you don't need to worry about players trying to find answers from the original YouTube post by clicking on it. YouTube videos also disappear completely once they are finished playing.

Will the YouTube video's audio automatically begin playing? By default, the sound on YouTube videos is muted and does not play sound automatically as this is a standard feature across all major mobile browsers as a safety precaution; otherwise, advertisements could play audio immediately upon visiting any website. Because this is a safety requirement in order to be able to have YouTube videos auto-play on mobile browsers, participants do have to unmute the button manually to hear the audio for any YouTube video.

Removing the YouTube Video

If you no longer want a YouTube video attached to your game, click on the red Remove button with a trash icon. Once you click on the Remove button, Crowdpurr will confirm that you'd like to remove the question media. Finally, click OK to remove the YouTube video.
