The Experience Dashboard is where you design, configure, and run your Experience. Everything involving your Experience happens on the Experience Dashboard. After you start your Experience, the Experience Dashboard will automatically update in real-time with your crowd's responses and Experience data!
This article discusses the following tools to set up your Experience and manage it while it's live such as the Control Center, Active Question, Experience Status Bar, Viewer Controls, and Experience Setup Panel.
The Control Center
The Control Center is where you start, pause, finish, and reset your Experience. You control your Experience's "status" using the buttons located in this section. When you first create an Experience, it is in the Ready state and your crowd cannot interact with it yet. You must "start" it to open your Experience for crowd interaction. When you're finished, you can "finish" your Experience and then reset it to clear out any test responses you don't want.
Click the Play button to start your Experience. Changes your Experience from the Ready state to Live. |
Click the Pause button to temporarily stop your Experience. Click the Stop button to end your Experience, putting it in the Finished state. |
Click the Reset button to get your Experience ready to play again. This puts it from the Finished state to the Ready state. |
Crowd Views also allow you to open the Presentation View. Clicking on the Presentation View button will open it in a new browser tab that you can then detach and move for a projector or HDTV you have connected to the video output of your computer. The Presentation View shows an overall view of your Experience that your crowd uses, in addition to their mobile devices, to follow along and see various aspects of your Experience (e.g. the Active Question, Live Rankings, Live Answer Results, etc.) To learn more about the Presentation View, please check out the following article - The Presentation View Explained
The Experience Dashboard also lists your Experience's Crowd URL. This is a test URL you can use to see how your Experience will look on your crowd's Participant View on their mobile device. You can also open up the Presentation View from the Crowd View to simulate participation by voting/playing your Experience when you're testing it. For more information on how the Participant View works, please read the following article from our Help Center - The Participant View Explained.
The Experience Code is also shown in the Control Center. This is the code your crowd types in to join your Experience. The Experience Code is a randomly generated five-digit code that identifies your Experience. If you're a Seminar Plan subscriber or higher, you can customize this code (e.g. COMPANYPOLL, OURTRIVIA, etc.) To learn more about customizing an Experience Code, please check out this article - Customizing Access Codes For Experiences.
The Active Question
The Active Question selector lets you update the "Active Question" of your Experience, which is the current question that your crowd sees on both their mobile device and the Presentation View. When your Experience has multiple questions, use the Active Question selector to move your Experience through its questions. There are also settings to have your Experience run automatically without you having to update the Active Question.
Various ways to use the Active Question selector
When you update the Active Question, it updates across the entire crowd's mobile devices and the Presentation View in real time! Use the arrow buttons to navigate to the previous or next question.
Alternatively, you can click on the question number and manually type the Active Question you'd like to set the game on. If your Experience only has one question, you'll need to add additional questions to use this selector.
The Experience Status Bar
The Experience Status Bar shows the status of your Experience at all times. Experiences can have the following statuses:
- Ready to Start: This state will show your crowd an "Experience will start shortly" message. Use this when you want to have your Experience ready, but not yet open for interaction from your crowd.
- Live: Press the green Play button in the Control Center to set your Experience to go "Live" and open your Experience to participation. Once you set your Experience to "Live" it will stay open until you pause or finish your experience.
- Paused: Press the gray Pause button in the Control Center to pause your Experience temporarily. When your Experience is paused, your crowd cannot interact and will be shown an "Experience Paused. Will resume shortly." message. To learn more, check out the following article - Starting & Pausing Experiences.
- Finished: Press the yellow Stop button in the Control Center to finish and finalize your Experience and close audience participation. When your Experience is finished, your crowd will be shown an "Experience Finished. Thank you for participating." message. After your Experience is finished, you can reset it to start it over and clear out any test responses. To learn more, check out the following article - Finishing & Resetting Experiences.
